Steve Hinchliffe (StevieH) TOTM for June

1 Introduction

Hi all my name is Steve Hinchliffe  aka stevieh on Reef Corals.

I would like to start by thanking everyone who voted for my tank, and all the people on reef corals who has helped me make this project possible with help, advice, free rocks, corals, frags, and equipment.

I have keeped fish in one form or another  since the age of  ten  starting with a two foot tank with goldfish in my bedroom  working my way up over the years to breeding and showing killiefish  then discus.
I have been keeping marines now for twelve months, and have had this tank set up since march this year so as you can see it is very young  yet.

2 Tank AND Sump

A 7x2x2 tank with a 6x20x18 sump, bought second hand from Tangman ( Eric).

It is sited in my garage running the full length of the back wall , on the right hand side of the tank is the 40mm overflow to the sump were it is pre-filtered into a 500 micron bag, under this is a cage full of bio balls, from this it is skimmed though a aquamedic 500 skimmer and then returned over a 55 inch x20 inch x 3 inch suger fine deep sand bed, in this I have four different types of conch snails to  keep the top slowly turned over, returned then by a eheim 1262.

8 future plans

On the left hand side of  the tank I have two 24 x 24 x 20 tanks , the idea I had was to use the top one as a fresh water  storage tank and the bottom one as a salt water mixing and storage tank.

The trouble with the bottom tank  was when filled with cold water the condensation was horrific and I didn’t went to add any more heaters, so I just use the top tank  for both, the top tank keeps warm about two degrees lower than the tank .

My idea is this I am going to drill a hole for an overflow in the side of the bottom tank running into the sump.

pump water in from the tank , put a low wattage light on 24-7 and fill it with micro algaes.
Fish, I will be looking out for in the future are different types of blennys and gobies two blackcaps are also on the wish list.

Once again thanks all for making me proud.
